Our Story
Robert and Kristin Kennedy founded Kennedy Fitness on September 27, 2007. But the story of Kennedy Fitness actually began in the summer of 2004. At that time, Robert was living in Dallas, working as a Porsche Premier Technician, but had just completed the Physical Fitness Specialist and Biomechanics of Resistance Training courses at The Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. At the same time, Kristin was studying pre-med biology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she was enrolled on a softball scholarship.
The two happened to meet in Denver, instantly clicked, and within a matter of weeks - Robert moved to Nebraska! Initially, Kristin continued to attend UNK while Robert began training at 24 Hour Fitness in Omaha. Following the completion of that school year, Kristin transferred to UNO, switched her major to exercise science, and began training at 24 Hour Fitness too. Robert proposed on Valentine’s Day, and the two were married in August 2006.
By that time, Robert had achieved Master Trainer status at 24 Hour Fitness, held multiple specialist certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and was consistently one of the top producing trainers in the Midwest. Then in the fall of 2007, as he and Kristin were starting Kennedy Fitness, Robert was invited by 24 Hour Fitness and the United States Olympic Committee to serve as a Fitness Ambassador at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing! It was an honor, but one that they ultimately elected to forego in order to aggressively pursue the launch of Kennedy Fitness.
Robert has competed in the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF). Kristin has competed in the Independent Bodybuilding and Powerlifting Association (IBPA), placing first in all three events, to become the 2011 IBPA Women’s Powerlifting National Champion! Both have competed in the Lincoln Marathon, Omaha Triathlon, been featured on local radio, TV news, a variety of podcasts, and authored several articles pertaining to health and fitness in local magazines.
Today, Kennedy Fitness continues to provide personal training services (in-person and on-line) and has expanded to offer Undesk Your Body® and other group exercise classes at businesses across the Omaha metro and beyond. Always on-the-go, the Kennedys continue to change lives by offering friendly support, encouragement, and expert guidance to their personal and corporate clients. So what are you waiting for?
