21st Century Fitness
The modern dumbbell was invented in the early 17th century. Dumbbells represented the cutting edge of strength training then, and continue to be arguably the single most significant training tool today. That being said; we are witnessing the next great revolution in physical fitness, right now…today!
With the advent of Freemotion in 1999, TRX in 2001, and now high tech monitoring devices from Bodymedia, FitBit…and the new Apple Watch, all debuting within the past 10 years…everything we knew about fitness at the end of the 20th century has now changed!
20 years ago I doubt anyone could’ve accurately predicted the impact of functional training, wearable technology…and even bariatric surgery and other modern lipo-sculpting techniques. Where will we be in another 20 years? As a business owner in this industry…I’m amazed to honestly say “I have no idea!” One thing is for sure though; as long as physical education continues to disappear from our schools, and the same kind of technology that tracks our calorie intake and expenditure continues to make it easier to burn fewer and fewer calories when we’re not exercising…the majority of us will continue to become more and more obese. I don’t say this to discourage anyone. I say this to ignite the spark of determination in you!
Obesity in America is an epidemic, but you have control of your own destiny! We have so much more knowledge and so many more tools available now than ever before to help us win the battle of the bulge. And of course, whenever you need help…Kennedy Fitness will be there for you!
